1971 P Bass vs. 1964 P Bass

Recorded some quick clips comparing my '71 and my '64 Precision Basses. Volumes and tones open full bore and both are strung with D'Addario Chromes (the 64's strings are fresher). Drums are at a very low level in the background.

Clean, fingerpicking behind pickup cover, no effects other than compression. 1971 P Bass goes first, 1964 P Bass @ 0:35.

me too, the '64 sounds kinda harsh, at least when distorted. Probably just the newer strings though

The 64 distorted would cut like a knife in a mix. I like the more versatile 71 though.

Thanks everyone. I feel that the strings on the '64 need time to dull. They're still very lively.
