Also, there's a blog on the Dream Theater myspace that you can get the true actual legit "Constant Motion" mp3 track..like i mean the exact one off the CD. I got it on my iPod, and it has more plays than a lot of my songs I've had on there for a year. It's so good. Just a heads up if anyone didn't know it was on there...I didn't notice it for awhile either. I'll just put a link below to it...

Bassist, both those tracks are pretty ****ing good, thanks for posting!

MistaMarko, thanks for posting that link! I already downloaded the track.

I've always thought that Dream Theater had an amazing musical style, but Labrie's DEEP warbly vibrato in the mid- to late 90's put me off (which is why I thought Liquid Tension Experiment was so awesome... no Labrie).

Consequently, I quit listening to Dream Theater. However, if these two tracks are any indicator, it seems like he's tamed the vibrato quite a bit. I really like both tracks, so I'll have to check out the CD. Too bad we have to wait til June!

Five string, in terms of LaBrie's mid-late 90s vocal style, keep in touch that his vocal cords were SEVERELY damaged during the Awake tour while he was in vacation in Chile (I believe). He had violent food poisoning and some insane vomiting, and it caused some tearing of his vocal cords. He was told by a doctor to not sing, but he had the tour to do, and he did. Thus, his throat was really bad (comparatively, I still dug it) between around '94 and roughly '05 or so. But, if you check out the Score DVD... his voice was totally healed by then, and he sounds killer there. I refuse to listen to the full tracks yet (I checked out the EPK and what was on there sounded hella-cool), but I'm hella-stoked.

Yeah, I remember that (an unfortunate experience for him and I wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially a vocalist), but I have the Images and Words CD that came out in 1992 which was before "mid" 90s I suppose... but before the bout with food poisoning.

I'm looking forward to checking out the newer stuff!

I don't think they'll ever top Images and Words...but I wish Petrucci would go back to using Ibanez, they were so much better!

Sweet!

I like Dark Eternal Night a lot, aside from the weird distorted vocals thing (Portnoy singing?). That riff at 5:57 is sick. The solo right after that is pretty ridiculous too. Reminds me of Buckethead a bit.

Of course, I trust that the actual CD will have better sound quality. The compression from the youtube vid isn't the best. Check out their Myspace for a good quality version of Constant Motion. Me likey

Yeah, the vocals in dark eternal night will sound less distorted because the original version will sound much clearer, sound quality in youtube is 64k i think.

That might be it, I just find his tone so lifeless and dull these days!
