The Arctic monkeys pretty much made the year in music fo rme . They have alot of the classic punk sound. They also really groove alot!!!! Also i recently heard about Gnarls Barkley and I really liek them, Id like to hear more abotu them though. also im still waitin to hear the new albums by RHCP, Robert Randolph &TFB , and John Mayer(Contunuum). There haev been alot of great new artists. What other new albums did everyone else like? |

Also... AFI's DECEMBERUNDERGROUND. I've had it for weeks. It's quite an album. It's a bit of Black Sails..., early 90's alterna-rock, and a hint of Sing the Sorrow. |

Tom Verlaine - Songs and Other Things
The Church - Uninvited Like the Clouds
Cat Power - The Greatest
Andreas Mattsson - The Lawlessness of the Ruling Classes
Radio Dept. - Pet Grief
Howe Gelb 'Sno Angel - Like You
Morrissey - Ringleader of the Tormentors
Darren Hayman - Table for One
Radar Bros. - The Fallen Leaf Pages (I know it's released last year in the States, but the European release was earlier this year, so I think it kind of qualifies on this list...)
And the thing is, they all range from very good to excellent.
Apart from those, I foresee that the upcoming albums by Dean and Britta, The Futureheads (wohoo!), and Yo La Tengo (though the preview clip on Matador's site has me a bit worried as to what to expect) will find a way to my shelves as soon as they'll get released. And let's not forget, the Luna documentary DVD Tell me do you miss me, alongside a greatest hits compilation will be available at the end of June. Oh, and then there's the already released Greatest Hits 1996-2002 by Hefner, which of course is absolutely lovely, and a compilation of rarities and outtakes by the same band on the way.
I'm also half eager to check out the new Les Claypool (if only for old times' sake) and Television Personalities albums.
So, yes, 2006 has been, and seems to continue being, a smashing year for good music. |
