Cursive - Mama, I'm Swollen
Bon Iver - Blood Bank
Mono - Hymn to the Immortal Wind (incredible album)
Dan Deacon - Bromst
John Frusciante - The Empyrean

Good year so far. Waiting on Matthew Good's new album Vancouver... that'll probably be one of the top albums of the year for me.

Did not know they had a new release out. Is it on vinyl, by any chance? Regardless, I need it.

Not to be nitpicky, but that was a 2008 release. It just happened to be one of my favorite releases of 2008 actually.

Also, it is quite apparent that I need to check out Crack the Skye pretty quick. It's getting a lot of love.

It is out on vinyl (2xLP). Well, the pressing is on April 7th, I believe. I went ahead and ordered a copy for myself, haha. It's a brilliant album. You should be able to get a hold of the CD or digital audio if you want, though. I think the release was March 24th.

none of the bands I follow have released anything yet.

Necrophagist will have a new release sometime this year, as will Aeon. Apart from them, I haven't heard of any new releases that I'm excited about.

For those into the sludge/core/metal thing, definitely check out:

Tombs- Winter Hours
Buried Inside- Spoils of Failure

Both pretty awesome 2009 releases.

Then I suggest, at the very least, you check Mono out. I've still got to get their newest release, though from what I've heard of it, One Step More and You Die is still my favorite.

Yeah, I play a little bass too. I could tell what you were doing there. You were playing some major and minor scales. I was watching your hands.
