Also add any and all
Beatles songs to your list. Paul McCartney was heavily influenced by the RnB genere and put a really interesting spin on how to use it with a 'pop-rock' sensibility.
+1 - I just heard both "I want you back" and "ABC" last night between sets and was reminded of how excellent those bass lines are! As for 'bass 101', well... if you incorporate those lines above into your 101 repetoire, more power to ya! I would imagine those lines are a bit more 200-level and up because of touch, feel and complexity! But maybe that is just because they were hard for ME to learn! LOL - However if I could go back and start all over again, along with all the Led Zeppelin I learned, I would put a heavy focus on those songs and the rest of that genre right out of the gate.
Stick with that teacher! I love the fact that you are being steered in that direction early!
