Oysterhead...pretty good, but not as amazing as I thought it would be. Check the Oysterhead thread for more on how I feel about it.
And Lizard, yes I do!

Why is that? For my tastes there's no better simple, headbanging band out there. And their lead singer can actually sing. Can't say the same for the other guy though.

My newest

As of this past weekend:

Cake : Comfort Eagle - I really like it, it is very typical Cake music - very dry, but groovy basslines.

Ben Folds: Rockin' the Suburbs - I like it too, but he is from my town (Chapel Hill, NC). It is a more peaceful album than Ben Folds Five albums and it has a slightly different feel. He had a fairly good live show here recently with it (the opening date on his tour).

Oysterhead: Grand Pecking Order - I think this album is great (but I also like stranger music and my band also plays stranger music which continues the theme). It basically sounds exacty like what I thought a band would sound like if you mixed Phish and Primus and added a much better drummer.

"OK", since I already have roughly 90% of what's been mentioned, here's the stuff I've picked up in the last week(or stuff that will, hopefully, arrive this week)-

1)Road Work-Edgar Winter's White Trash
Great LIVE R&B/Gospel/Rock 'N' Roll album from the early '70s.

2)4-Blood, Sweat, & Tears
Been wanting this one for awhile, finally got around to it; anything with bassist Jimmy Fielder(especially the first 4 BS&T albums)is worth the price.

3)Super Session-Mike Bloomfield/Steve Stills/Al Kooper
...hasn't arrived yet; it's from the late '60s & has a tribute to John Coltrane("Your Holy Modal Highness"). Can't be but so bad, right?

4)A Long Time Coming-The Electric Flag
...another one from the '60s; basically, R&B-ish with Harvey Brooks on bass. Even Miles liked it!(in a blindfold test)

5)Coelacanth-The Producers
Originally recorded in the '80s, finally released.
Give Blink a rest, guys...pick this one up(some nice fretless bass & plenty of it, too...on a Pop/Rock record).

...and now, one of my 'holy grail' albums-
Full Moon's debut. Seriously, I have wanted this record since the mid '70s...it was OOP even back then! A vinyl version is damn near impossible to cop & usually goes for $40-$50 at that.
By dumb luck, I did a search @Tower...they're stocking it as an import(ouch).
Anyway, this band(Buzz Feiten, Neil Larsen, Dave Hollnad, Phillip Wilson, Brother Gene Dinwiddie, etc)were way ahead of their time. Nice tunes in a quasi-Jazz/Pop vibe(if I'm remembering correctly...watch, it'll probably suck when I hear it today!)

Yeah, I agree. I wasn't a big fan of them at all when I heard them on the radio, but when I saw them live on TV I was turned off big time. It's really disappointing to see a band who can't even reproduce live what they did on CD.

I saw them live for real, not on tv. It was perfect except for that stupid rapper guy. He always sounds bad.

I work at a college radio station and we got our advance copy the other day. My legit copies (on vinyl of course) are on their way.
