Recorded a new album with some friends over this winter break. Pretty excited about the way it turned out. Give it a listen if you're into bands like Quicksand, Hum, My Bloody Valentine, Jesu, Envy, Helmet, Pg. 99 ect...

Thanks,

What the hell is "shoegaze"? I'm curious. Will definitely give it a listen when I'm on my music PC.

EDIT - I just googled "shoegaze" so now I know what it is. Apparently the term was invented by the British music press. This seems typical as they're absolutely obsessed with labelling and genres.

Sorta like noise/alt rock. Usually, the people performing it stare down at the floor. They generally have a lot of pedals, or no stage presence, hence the term "shoegazing"

Alright for anyone who's not into downloading bands they've never heard of, you can stream the album here.

That's supposed to be shoegaze? Not very ethereal, or wispy...and the vocals are really, REALLY harsh.

Well, yeah you're right. It's not straight forward shoegaze, I'd say the 6th track is the only good example of that genre. I'm no good at labeling music, but I can say we're very influenced by shoegaze bands in playing punk/hardcore/rock? We're trying to do something different here, not regurgitating what's already been done, thats probably why we like the vocals sounding harsh.

Thanks I appreciate that! We're from southern California so your just a little out of the way haha. I'd love to if we ever had the opportunity though, we just finished recording this last week so we'll have to wait and see if it garners enough interest for something like that.

It's interesting. I like it. I haven't heard aggressive...punkgaze before. I'm not a huge fan of that vocal style personally but I don't think it detracts from the music.

Pretty cool! I like Self Comfort the most so far. I say keep it up!
