Yeah I saw the video a few days ago, I wasn't sure what to think. He's got really good technique, and he's quick...but other than that...umm I dunno This is kinda the same thing...it starts out nice, but hang in there...not trying to hijack the threadhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ljsZpw_9gI

Aaaaah! - both those clips are just plain wrong - and if we are talking Bass Fights I'm nominating Gary Willis as 'Taste' referee - if your ears and brain need soothing after those horrific examples of (ahem) "bass playing" - please cast your gaze over this bit of loveliness:

Michael - Willis is a fabulous player, huh? - unlike the idiot in the first clip - no wonder he is alone on the stage - no-one would play along with that garbage!! hahahahaha

Well, that was terrible. I remember seeing him on a fretless gutar too, my word, that was awful.

MUCH more to my taste.

I don't want to take anything away from the first guy. I mean, I can't do that stuff but... It wasn't very musical.
Neat techniques and effects, though.

Again, Willis is more my taste.

Why was there a fretless guitar in a bass battle?

Edit: Quick hijack, but does anyone know where I could pick up the sheet for Norwegian Wood? That Gary Willis vid rocks my world.

Sorry, can't help with the sheet music but it's from this rather good Allan Holdsworth album (with Willis on it), called None Too Soon - there's loads of great bass on it:

You could just like listen and try and learn it - it's not that hard...

I rather liked it for what it was, experimental. There is a market for that type of playing which is mostly frowned on by the clinical wannabes and perfectionists, however the beauty of this style is the freedom from those ties.Their was also an applaud at the end of the solo.

I feel this way about 80% of the accepted pantheon of Bass Gods, so as far as I can tell this guy is awesome.

Right hand - OK.

Left hand -

The guy needs some lines and a woodshed rental.
