"Abbey Road" side two bass demonstration

Sign in to disble this ad
Demonstration of the bass parts on side two from “Mean of Mustard” to “Carry that Weight”

This is my attempt to demonstrate the bass parts Paul and George played on Abbey Road for a large part of side two… from “Mean Mr. Mustard” to the end (not the End). I discuss who played bass on which tune and what and instruments they played. I am not attempting to play the parts note for note, like a Mozart symphony. The intention is to give a broad outline of the parts so fellow players can watch fingerings, slides, etc.

I recorded this so that that my bass can actually be heard over the album. I always recommend using headphones so the sound of the bass can be better captured in your head.

One of my favourite bass parts ever. Good job. I've subscribed to your channel by the way.
Keep up the good job.

That was great! You even play it left-handed.

Loved your clip, here's mine from side one. I hit a giant clam at one point, but we're all friends here, right? I was doing fine until I noticed my old bass instructor, Rich Appleman, sitting in the audience and then my fingers got nervous.

Thanks!
I always like it when we decide to put the Abbey Road medley in the setlist.

Is that Joe Musella playing guitar in the back!? He was my favorite teacher when I was at Berklee... all around great guy.

Thanks for the kind words Fog. I always appreciate direct feedback about my projects.

"Hear the Bass" has helped me put al lot of names with a lot of great notes. Thanks for that, too!

Thank you for doing this! It's great to see the bass lines of Abbey Road played out. It breaks my heart that you didn't include "You Never Give Me Your Money" though! Could you do one of that?

Yep, that's Joe himself. Great guy, he just had a baby girl a few weeks before that show so he was learning all those parts on no sleep.

Thanks for your coments.

I think "You never....." is very similar to "Slumbers" in material, and I wanted to keep the post to 10 minutes. I'll be posting some more demos in the future. Check out some of my solo stuff.

Paul
