Mr Fuqua: I don't know lyrics by heart, but yes I've heard them. Is that a prerequisite?

There's a reason that they call particularly melodic playing "lyrical". If you start from a place of playing musical phrases and not applying notes to chords changes, it gives the subsequent improvisation a firmer foundation.

I'm entitled to my opinion, and you to yours. No need to try to make it sound like I can't take critisism just because of that.

You've got some terrific stuff happening there - I'd really love to hear/see you playing with other cats. |

Vroom: If you can hear even a smidge of the influence of Parker in my playing I take that as a huge compliment. Thanks bro
I don't have any videos up with me playing in a jazz setting on bass. But here's a vid from a showcase I did with a great singer named Glen Scott.
The video starts out a bit laid back, but it gets into the real funky stuff a couple of minutes in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdRdrgYRw9Y&feature=fvst
I'll try to get some more jazz clips up in the coming weeks. Hopefully some ensemble stuff
Edit: Found this clip with an old band I used to play with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig72Quy2LlE
A bit of jazz/funk/soul/fusion/whatever hehe.

That was some seriously great playing - lovely tone and superb phrasing - some of the nicest stuff i've heard on youtube for some time - keep posting stuff, I'd like to hear more.
Very well done
Cheers

Vroom: The bone players name is Kristian Persson. He just released his first album with his band Neighbourhood, where he wrote all the songs. Some great jazz influenced funk: http://www.myspace.com/jointheneighbourhood

You solo exactly how I want to, fluid and melody oriented but fast when it counts . Your friends band sounds great too, any idea on a digital release? I REALLY want to buy the album but I'd rather not spend extra to have a CD shipped from Sweden.
