An absolutely amazing fusion trio I've really gotten into lately.

Ok guys, you probably haven't heard of them, but there's this amazing trio in NYC called Consider the Source. I've been into them for about a year and a half now, and they finally have some video of them up. This is middle eastern influenced fusion, but it straight up rocks.

There's a bass solo, but don't think he's a wanker. I think his playing is definitely complimentary to the style and just overall great. There's also an interesting version of Star Wars.

I love them endlessly.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love fusion, but that didn't really do it for me. Everything seemed a bit disjointed. Now, I know these jams can never be "rehearsed" as such and that the quality of the music is all down to the "gel" between the musicians, but I didn't really feel it there.

Also, for a live show, it seemed to be a bit lacking in passion. The guitarist especially seemed to lack charisma, and while he didn't seem to be neglecting his playing, he didn't seem to be acknowloging the audience or the fact that anyone at was watching. Still, his guitar is very cool! Oh, and I felt the bass tone was a bit of a let down. Still, i don't like Schecter at the best of times!

regardless, I'll not write them off yet and I hope to hear more!

If they had a CD I would buy it, there are some really cool moments, but could be a lot tighter. I love the ideas though, fretless guitar ftw!

They have a CD for sale on their website. It's quite ace. I'm surprised to see people disliking them, but then again their music clearly isn't something that everyone will like.

They're working on a new one. The CD is only like 5-7 bucks or something like that.

I usually dig this type of music and can appreciate they style they are trying to pull off.. But they are very loose. Almost as if they havent even rehearsed at all. I understand its a jam, but just doesnt sound put together. Maybe (hopefully) its different on CD.. They just need to get a bag of tricks under their fingers for live stuff.

Also, the bass player is taking himself way too seriously. I'm all about getting into my music while I play and moving around. But, come on.. Its not exactly a Pantera concert...

Again, I dig the spirit they are playing in but its just like 3 musicians doing 3 different things while happening to play the same song. Not really gelling together.

Oh yeah some stuff is definitely rehearsed, they have hooks, riffs, etc. the solos are improv.
