So it appears as if Accept have put out a decent record. This song rocks hard. And Peter Baltes is playing a sweet Squire P bass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RzBp6sGju4

It's funny--Accept only had one single get any attention in the US, way back in the mid '80s: "Balls to the Wall". As far as I was aware, nobody in the US heard one peep from them after that. One day a dozen years ago I was in a used CD store, and somebody had just sold their complete Accept CD collection--over 20 discs! Apparently in Germany and thereabouts, Accept kept going nonstop. |

I was not really expecting much, I used to have a live cd and I remember it being muddy, but this show just rocked! The bassist was especially good, which is not always a requirement for metal. They even had good choreographed stage moves at points. They've got a new singer from NJ, he did a great job.

They were very good as always but it was not my favorite performance from them. Up close the bass tone was blatty but from the back of the room near the mixing board it sounded good.

For instance, I think A-ha is still going today ("Take On Me" and a couple other minor hits over here).

Also, this song sounds nothing like classic Accept to me...

Accept was much more than a "one hit" type band in the US and worldwide. The new album is the best Accept Album since Balls to the Wall, and is straight up Accept, absolutely a great album for "Real" Metal fans. |

I later picked up an earlier Accept album (yes) album Restless and Wild with a tune called Fast as a Shark (thrash before thrash). Check it out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkiuJg5HhtM |

Their debut album Medal of Honour (1986) is pretty darn good hard rock. The song Medal of Honor and Front Burner were a pretty good 1-2 punch for a debut album.
Accept rock. Balls to the Wall was their biggest North American album. But check out Metal Heart, the one after - pretty good too. For early stuff check out Fast as a Shark. Wicked song. Might be one of the earliest thrash metal songs. Great band.

| | | | For the people who have seen Accept this year, Peter dd not have a bass rig on stage, yet had the most awesomest (?) live sound.......... how was he able to get any feel from such a set-up? did have in-ears and maybe a monitor in front of him?
do any of you guys go this route and just trust the sound guy to control what the audience hears?

I'm sure they do trust the sound guy because they bring their own engineer to quality venues with good PAs. The stage looked empty, but it didn't matter because they kicked a**.

I remember before that album they had one with a song called Fast as a Shark, which was a fairly early example of fast double-kick drum metal. There was a kid in my high school -- a drummer -- who used to brag "I can play Fast as a Shark faster than Fast as a Shark." I always thought that was a funny line and I've remembered it to this day! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
