Besides Kind of Blue (the quintessential jazz record for all time), I'm partial to Miles' second quintet, like David Benyahia mentioned. Miles Smiles is a great album, and so is E.S.P. Wayne Shorter's Footprints on Miles Smiles is one of my favorite jams.
