Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity
Opeth - Damnation (pretty much any Opeth)

uhm, this is hard, I normally don't pay much attention to lyrics.

Are we talking interesting = weird?

Pink Floyd Piper at the Gates of Dawn and the two solo Syd Barrett albums... definitely Captain Beefheart, and I'd have to say anything by Ruins because they sing in a completely fabricated alien language.

Or are we talking interesting = complex/effective/amazing?

I've always liked Neil Young's lyrics because they are unique and simple, On the Beach and Tonight's the Night being some of his best.

Relatively, bluesman J.B. Lenoir's album Vietnam Blues has some downright amazing lyrics, especially for the blues.

Though, my favorite lyric cycles are Elliot Smith's first album, the Kinks' Arthur, and Minutemen's Double Nickles on the Dime... all for different reasons

Pink Floyd/ Animals
strange orwellian influenced view of the human kind, but very well done.

also i always liked Tom Petty's lyrics, especially on the Wallflower album. Simplicity at its best

Just about anything that Elvis Costello put out.

With lines like,

Oh, I said "I'm so happy, I could die."
She said "Drop dead," then left with another guy.

--Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes

what else can you say?

Just about all of DMB's cd's.
"I was there when the bear ate his head, and thought it was a candy."?

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" has some interesting lyrics as well.

The Clones of Dr. Funkestein, Motor Booty Affair and Mothership Connection - Parliament. Hell, who am I kidding?! All of their albums had interesting lyrics!

The Zombies' Odessey and Oracle has some really good lyrics , especially compared to their flower power contemporarys.

As far as politics go , The Clash's self titled debut is the best.

The lyrics of Abdel Wright's self-titled album are really interesting me right now.

I like alot of Peter Tosh's lyrics, especially the song Legalize it.

My favourite of all has to be claypool though.

Sathington Willoughby:

Today in these majestic
halls of old to honor
a man they call
Sathington Willoughby.
There's a joke or two,
A pun or three
I feel that must be
told then I go on to
speak of Sathington Willoughby.

manics

All Manic Street Preachers albums.
Especially the legendary "The Holy Bible."
Not just the lyrics are interesting, but it's like a miracle that they were able to write songs with those lyrics that still sound amazing.

Neil peart constantly amazes me with his skill at crafting lyrics, but he hit a high on Hold Your Fire. That album is brilliant in every sense.

I'm surprised at how many people have said Hemispheres. When I say the thread title, I immediatley thought of that one. 2112 also comes to mind, if only for the title track.

I'll also add two albums by the Matthew Good Band; Beautiful Midnight and Underdogs. I highly reccomend these albums. Matt Good is also an amazing singer, for the record.
