Relayer by Yes. Fantastic. The Gates of Delirium is genius. Sound Chaser is sick.
Signals by Rush. Great tone, even though I hate Steinbergers. Great songs. Seems to be that perfect balance between their older, harder rocking prog stuff and their 80's synth stuff.
Ghost in the Machine by the Police. I can't stand the repetitiveness of "One World", but Invisible Sun, Spirits In the Material World, Demolition Man, Secret Journey, and Every Little Thing She Does is Magic more than make up for it.

Oxeneers or The Lion Sleeps When its Antelopes Go Home - These Arms Are Snakes
Both feature absolutely phenomenal bass playing and synthwork from Brian Cook. |

These guys were "it" for me for a couple years & Sergio Vega's generally pretty simple lines really drive the songs. |

Signals and GUP by Rush (Ged started to use a Steinberger on GUP)

Pantera - "Reinventing The Steel". I find that this is Pantera's lease talked about record. Rex Brown is the man. I absolutely LOVE the bass tone on this record. Check out the songs "I'll Cast A Shadow" and "Revolution Is My Name". |

I have a history of liking albums that the creators of the albums themselves dislike, the above being cases in point.

You guys consider Relayer, Drama, Zenyatta Mondatta, Ghost In The Machine, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure to be under-rated / unknown albums?
Wow - I hope I can someday reach such levels of unpopular obscurity! |

While I can understand why Allan detests that record, the performances on it are all the more striking because they were rehearsals. Alphonso Johnson on bass & (especially) Narada Michael Walden on drums just tear it up! Quote:

Ric
Subdivisions
The Analog Kid
Losing It (Could go either way)
Countdown
Jazz
Chemistry
Digital Man
New World Man
The Weapon
Also, I'd say don't bash a Stein just for it's looks if you haven't played one. Also you don't have to like things just because Geddy Lee used them, or dislike them because he stopped using them.

Kind of Blue is one of the most acclaimed and popular jazz albums ever made, and in the 51 years since its release, it has sold about 4 million copies. I think the Jonas Brothers have sold over 8 million. |

Jack Bruce - Monkjack. He plays bass on one track, the rest is largely him playing piano & singing.
The first three Blue Öyster Cult albums...
Blue Öyster Cult (sometimes called 'Windows'), Tyranny & Mutation, and Secret Treaties - strong Sandy Perlman influence throughout all of them. The first album is a real gem, very varied - a bit like Sabbath's 'Vol. 4', but they tend to get swamped out by the AOR-fest of 'Some Enchanted Evening'. Last Days of May & I'm On The Lamb But I Ain't No Sheep & Before The Kiss, A Redcap
