Ok. I'm an old guy. I have been listening to the ABB Live at the Fillmore East since I was about 17 when it came out. I have worn it out. But I have NEVER SEEN IT. Until now. Where did this come from? My mind is blown. The Allman Brothers Band | Whipping Post | Sep 23, 1970 | Music Video - wolfgangsvault.com

| | | Actually, this predates the live album, which was recorded March 12 and 13, 1971. (I know... I was in the audience on March 13th.)
Wolfgang's Vault is the online site where they sell, or make available, items that were in the personal collection of Bill Graham, manager of Fillmore East and Fillmore West. |

The fact this wonderful Bass player died when he was only 23 brings me to tears. He is the reason I took up Bass and he is the best and the personification of cool.

| | | | The Allman Brothers are the best Blues/Rock/Jazz/Jam band of all time!
I have been listening and jamming to Live at The Fillmore East for three-four weeks straight now and it never gets old!

Berry played on Eat a Peach after Live at Fillmore East. Actually EAP was half the remainder of Live at Fillmore and the other half studio work done before Duane died. Berry's replacement, Lamar Williams was very good, listen to Jessica. Even though I saw them quite a few times with Allen Woody, I don't think he cut it as an ABB's bassist. Oteil was much better. |

| | | | I saw the Allman Bros. when I was 17 .... of course, it was in the early 90s and Duane and Berry were already departed. However, thankfull Dickey Betts was with them still, and at this point Alan Woody was on bass, and Warren Haynes on guitar as well.
Haynes is with them now. Derek Trucks is just great. But to me, without Dickey, it just aint the Allman Bros... its just a bunch of KICK ASS musicians playing Allman Bros. music. Dickey Betts was the voice behind Blue Sky and Ramblin Man... he wrote the great instrumentals Elizabeth Reed and Jessica. He was part of the band's spirit.... I wont go see them anymore. |

B.O. was my main early bass influence. Growing up in the Macon GA. area allowed me to see them quite a few times before Duane and Berry passed away. I've got a DVD that a friend made that has all of the live footage of the original band recorded. Lot's of cuts from the Fillmore, Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Macon Central City park and the In Concert footage (just before Berry was killed in the motorcycle accident. |

As for the currently line up used by the Bros. its by far the best since Barry & Duane and as far as the guitar work now its much more dynamic and soulfull compared to Betts's country playing. I thought he was the odd man in the group when I first saw them long before anyone outside of Georgia or Florida ever heard of them. I'd enjoy hearing Duane with Haynes or young Trucks. Bros. forever!! Doc. |

I did see the Allmans at the gigantic multi-day Watkins Glen festival with the Grateful Dead and the Band in 1974. I sort of remember liking it.
