Boy glad I did not get it. Unfortunately I do not think the hype justifies the reality. Listened to several tracks on YouTube and to my mind, OK another rock group, competent. Have I heard this before and its rehash? Satriani, when he does his albums, is distinct and has that Satchmo magic every time.
For me, this does not pull my trigger. I wanted it to. Too bad.

I bought it...it's very Montrose-esque IMHO. It's also nice to hear Michael Anthony play some cool stuff.

I agree. Every song just sounds... generic.

Listened to it last night... Gets a big resounding 'meh' from me. But I agree, it's great to hear MH rip it a bit more than we're used to, and his tone is great.

What's the point post on an internet forum about not making a ~$10 purchase?

I got the vinyl. Like it!

The problem with "Super Groups" is it seems that no one can over rule the other because of large Egos, so design by comittee turns out boring it seems to me.

I posted this about Chickenfoot elsewhere:
I bought it. I wanted to like it.
I didn't.

I guess for a couple reasons: one, I've determined that I'm just not that keen on Sammy Hagar. I quit buying Van Halen records right after 5150 as well.

Secondly, there's nothing on this Chickenfoot album that Giant didn't do better 15+ years ago.YouTube: Giant Live in the Studio

IMHO, YMMV

I agree about Giant, TL5. Underrated band to be sure.

I bought the Chickenfoot album on itunes with a gift card I got for Christmas... I don't regret it, but I'm also not listening to it every day either...

Michael Anthony stepped it up though, if you ask me. He finally sounds like the good bassist he's supposed to be...

!
I think the point was that the OP was disappointed in the music, not whether he bought the thing or not.

I bought it to primarily hear Mad Anthony and Chad lock up... and I like it! Joe has some nice solo's too. I think people's expectations were lofty- especially for Satchmo, but I believe he made the laid back record he wanted to make.... w/ 3 of the most laid back dudes in rock n roll
