Amazing upright sound

Check out this CD: http://cdbaby.com/cd/ravenscroft4. This is the trio that I play drums in. The bass player,. Steve Millhouse has one of THE most amazing acoustic basses I have ever heard. It was formerly Rufus Reid's main axe that he used for about 25 years. He used it on all of the Dexter Gordon sides and all the DeJohnette Special Edition sides. Steve bought it 3 years ago for $30,000.00. It is a full sized bass, a few hundred years old with a low C extension. I have NEVER heard a bass with low E like that in my life. The whole room shakes when he plays it. We have a newer CD that just came out, but they had to be pulled because they forgot to put the info about who played on it. We record in the same room, VERY close together and a lot of the bass sound is coming through the piano mics along with my drums. It is not a true SACD, but it is as close to SACD as you can get and you don't need a SACD player to listen to it. This is all free improv, but don't let that scare you off. We do a lot with dynamics and we listen like crazy, so it doesn't sound like 3 guys warming up. :-)

You might get more interest in the section we have specifically for Double Bass - i.e. DB ...?
