Amplitube 2 sounds horrible please help me

ok so i got amplitube2 and i connected my bass to the microphone input of the computer, when Amplitube is not open the bass sounds decent, but when i turn Amplitube on sounds like s**** the effects works but they sound hrrible, even when i bypass the amplitube, so which way shoud i connect my bass to the computer?
i have a gk 1001rb that might work fine with the computer but i dont know... so please help me to find cheap way to make my amplitube sound normal

You need to 'preamp' the the bass signal with a preamp, mixer or even an effects pedal - to get the right level to go into the 'line in' on your sound card.

Using line in will give a better quality sound than using the mic input and amplitube will work better with the cleaner signal.

Yeah a Direct input box may be your ticket. I have an excellent M-Audio soundcard and they work well with a product called an "Audio buddy" if you are after budget (but good)

It says microphone preamp but it also works with guitars.

so, if i use a DI, Should i use the xlr output or the normal 1/4 out, i tried connecting the bass to the input not the mic and sounds better but... sounds only trough one speaker and the amplitube wasnt putting the fx on that signal.. so i dont know if i have that option with the amplitube.. to use the mic or the input
