Oh yes. Sadly missed.
You could write a course on how to play perfect bass entirely based on what this great man did. He's been a huge influence on so many of us.

Bernard was the man. Tony Thompson and Nile Rogers were equally fine musicians and Chic was about as good a rhythm section as one could get. The three of those guys together were dynamite. Here's a clip of Bernard laying it down with a Sadowsky:
