I put my favorite set of strings, an 8-month old set of DR Hi-Beams, on my Lakland DJ 5 (with Fralins) today and now the bass smokes! I don't know why, but newer strings just don't sound or feel right to me anymore.
Anyways, a couple days ago I learned the bassline to Erykah Badu's "Boogie Nights". Killer bassline and incredible tone (hope I did it some justice ). I recorded myself playing over the original (with the bass EQ on the track way down). http://www.artistcollaboration.com/u...d%20Boogie.mp3
Going direct through my Gallien Krueger 800RB, with a bunch of bass EQ boost and a bit of Hi-Mid boost. Then through some compression.
This song is super fun to play. Let me know what you think!
(btw: slapping isn't my strong point, but I'm getting there!)

But a little more sustain for some notes there will make it perfect man.
You play realy great! |

Note to Dan Lakin: Please use medium jumbo to jumbo frets on your necks please! |

Does Lakland even offer jumbo frets as an option? If not, he should! Geez! I briefly owned a Skyline 55-01 and never even thought to do a re-fret! Oh well! |
