Another One Bites The Dust

I've heard this track HUNDREDS of times, but mainly on TV shows etc, and only recently listened to it through a decent speaker system. What a bass tone! It's fat, with a nice midrange. What was used to record it?

Probably some kind of tube preamp into an analog tape deck.

Or do you mean what type of bass guitar?

I meant what was used to record it in general, as in what kind of amp bass etc.

And RTL, I didn't think it sounded like a P bass. It's too mid-rangey!
