So like it says, any Anthony Hackson fans out there? I'm sitting here listing to Michel Camilo (Tropical Jam) and I have heard his name pop up in while. Anybody have some favorite albums he's on?

One of my favourite AJ albums is: The O'Jays - 'Ship Ahoy'
An album that many people don't know about is Lalo Schifrin's - 'Black Widow' (recently reissued). The music is dated, but there are some very nice grooves. |

This was thanks to my father spinning records featuring AJ's work with the O'Jays, Chaka Khan, Simon and Garfunkel, and the soundtrack for the movie version of "The Wiz".
He's simply one of the finest players working today. The Camilo stuff is among his best work IMO. Here's a good informative site put together by a fellow AJ aficionado: http://members.aol.com/jlsmith42/aj/aj.htm

Donald Fagen-"Ruby, Baby", "I.G.Y."(both from The Nightfly)
The O'Jays' & Chaka Khan stuff is very happenin', too!
Fusion?
I agree with Casino.
Latin?
The Michel Camilo/French Toast material.
For something a little more 'free'-
AJ's Eyewitness/Steve Khan material is very cool...& very difficult to find.

Anyway, Jackson is cool...but it's El Negro that floored me in that tune.
The Jerry Gonzalez & The Fort Apache Band clip is my favourite.

Nah, I actually like the O'Jays, my mate has got loads of their CD's, he's lent me the greatest hits but...I managed to lose it.

I really love the AJ solo, it took me a couple of listens to actually appreciate what he does on that.
My current fave spin with AJ playing is Michel Camilo's Triangulo but I agree a lot of his work with Al Di Meola is breathtaking. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
