| Too true. Lots of stuff on this thread I wouldn't consider "lost". Doug & the Slugs gets alot of airplay here too. |

I have even gotten to meet some Canadian bands over the years and got to jam a couple times at Jeff Healey's club in Toronto, which was very cool.
The Canadian Content Radio Broadcast laws mean that many songs by Canadian acts get played a lot there but not in the U.S. and many are hits in Canada and not so much here. The Canadian Content percentage was increased to 30% in the 1980s, and to 35% effective January 3, 1999. However, most new commercial radio stations licensed since 1999 have been licensed at 40%.
I have also noticed that there are great number of songs that are hits in the U.K. and other parts of Europe and Australia that either were minor hits here or not at all. No matter what, there is a great deal of good music and cool songs.
One thing I really enjoy about Talk Bass and its international audience is that many times I been introduced to many songs and acts that I never knew about. |

I may have missed it, but the first thing that came to my mind is the third LP from Crack The Sky. Although recorded in late 1978, maybe it qualifies for this thread. Bassist Joe Macre (and both of his subsequent replacements in the band) are monsters.
"Nuclear Apathy" permanently changed the way I thought about rhythm sections: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8_aIHXWkH0

I remember when I was a kid, I heard Wham's 'I'm your man' but it was the extended version, and there was an awesome bass solo in it.
If you have the time, try to find the extended version of I'm your man, and listen for the bass solo, it's pretty cool!
