Quick search turns up no mention yet of Red 7. Notable songs include "Heartbeat":Heartbeat used on "Miami Vice" and in the Michael Mann movie "Manhunter"; and "Less Than Perfect":Less Than Perfect featured in the Joe Dante movie "Explorers".

Speaking of the band Axe. Here us another forgotten song they did in the 80s; a cover of the Edgar Winter's White Trash song Keep Playing That Rock and Roll.

Black Rose was a band featuring Cher as the lead vocalist. In 1980, Cher and her part-time boyfriend Les Dudek wanted to form a band called Black Rose. The band tried to make it without trading on Cher's celebrity and her name never appeared on the album cover and her face was only seen in a band photo on the back cover

Patrice Rushen - Forget Me Nots

Some funky bass work in this song by bass player Freddie Washington.

If no one else has posted it... These Guys Freaking ROCKED! The drummer and keyboard player for this band were beasts! And that key board must have weighed a TON!

Here's one from San Francisco in the '80s. Not sure if they got beyond the KUSF playlist, but the singer is currently in Quasi, based in Portland.

There was one band out of Japan that managed to have a presence in the U.S. scene...EZO.

A couple:
