+1 to Savatage - they never got the recognition they deserved I think.

I still regualrly listen to Headhunter and The Blitz. Great albums!

I alos never really considered Krokus hair metal. They were pre-hair. I guess in my mind hair metal didn't start till 85-86. This stuff came out in the early 80's right?

Bands like Krokus, Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Angel, Helix, and a few others were around in the late 70s and early 80s and while they were good hard rock bands, they also were the precursors to hair metal and influenced the bands that emerged in the mid to late 80s in my mind.

Agreed. I always get a kick out of people saying hair bands wear spandex and leather. I do believe iron maiden and the scorpions were rocking spandex before poison and bon jovi. Steve harris sported the black and white striped spandex for many years! !

yeah...to me, Motley Crue in the Shout At The Devil era were sort of the first hair band. But Poison and Ratt were defiitely setting that trend. I don't count Def Leppard untill after Hysteria. Cinderella was definitely hair, as well as Warrant, Winger, Nelson, later Dokken, and many of the later 80's radio bands that I quit listening to

The influence of Level 42 (who played shows with these guys in the early 80s) is really obvious on that track in certain places. I can also hear a bit of Yellow Magic Orchestra.
