I always thought the lyrics in RHCP were OK...but i think they are just terrible in this latest album. Don't get me wrong, i love the instrumentals...but i really can't stand the lyrics and vocals =/

I was really impressed that anthony actually learned to sing after 20 years. Come on, wasn't the rapping getting a little old for you? I mean, they're like 45 years old, you can only rap about boobies and sex, even thinly veiled, for so long before it gets creepy.

I kind of agree on the lyrics; Hey Yo? But still...

Well, and I am getting ready to duck, I sort of lost interest in RHCP after Mother's Milk or Uplift MoFo Party Plan - you know... that era... sometime after those releases all the songs started really sounding the same - in a more generic, homogenized way... It seemed like a lot of the 'fire' went away.

I fealt the same way about Rush - either on or after Subdivisions - fealt like they were no longer the group I fell in love with.

Not to say they both did not continue to make incredible music - it just left me behind, that's all.

IMO the lyrics starting stinking around Californication.

I hate to say it, but I had not thought of it this way. You have a point...

I feel that anothony just wasn't trying when he was singing this entire album. It sounds like he is singing without passion, wheras on earlier albums he was putting his all into it. Thats the biggest dissapointment I have with the album.

lyrics

Are there any lyrics included with the digital bookelt from iTunes? What about lyrics with the actual CD? Seems like the actual CD is selling for the same price or cheaper than iTunes.

I don't like the lyrics either. Actually, it may be that they're actually very deep and poetic and use symbolism and metaphors and such, and I just don't get them. Or that they actually make no sense.

Very much so. Songs like Hump de Bump, Slow Cheetah, C'mon Girl, Torture Me, the list goes on. Mainly the choruses. They'd be so sweet, if not for the below-average hooks.

We'll see how he manages live. Singing in a studio with software at your command and singing live are two completely different things.

I thought the vocals/lyrics were just as good/bad/average as they were on the last four albums, I didn't really notice much of a difference. :/

I'm right there with you. The RHCP have great musicians, and they work really well together. I just NEVER liked Anthony. He annoys me.

He sings much better on this album than he has done in the past, but some of the hooks aren't that great. But you try writing 28 killer songs with great hooks.

I have yet to warm to it myself. The last 6 songs on the second disc are decent, but, with a few exceptions, the rest of it bores me.

No one ordered them to do so

I personally think the only song that has a good hook is Dani California.
