I have never been a huge Van Halen or Sammy Hagar fan, but liked "Van Hagar" when I was a teenager.
Anyways, reading about how much of a d!@k EVH has been to Hagar and Michael Anthony, it is cool to see them hook up with Chad from the RHCP and Satriani.
I have heard 3 of the songs on the CD and they really "out Van Halen" Van Halen IMO.
Satriani's playing is obviously a shredfest but in a tasteful way, Chad's drumming is great (he is MUCH tighter than Alex VH IMO) and it seems Anthony is actually allowed to play bass (he sounds damn good vs. the 8th notes on the root he was forced to play in VH). Hagar's voice sounds like it did back in the 80's!
In any case, I think this CD is going to be really big.
Thoughts?

Michael's background vocals were always incredible in Van Halen and I love how he changed his style to fit the band as they evolved. Plus, they both seem like sane, cool, laid back guys that you'd actually want to hang out with as opposed to the rest of the VH crew. I hope it's very successful for all involved. |

compare with even VH's For Unlawful... album, which has the bass loud by VH standards- eg. "Pleasuredome" where you have to listen through headphones to pick up all the fills that MA's playing. |

Checked out "Soap on a Rope" on Youtube, then listened to clips on iTunes.
Just downloaded the album, with the bonus track. Listening to it as I type. Great stuff!
And you're right, Baird6869, M. Anthony actually gets to play REAL bass parts now!
IMHO, I highly recommend the disc.
