I've just recently been listening to them alot lately. There a great young band and they definatley have a career in muisc ahead of them. I saw them live and I havn't heard a band that was that young sound so good live in forever(There lead singer/guitarist is 18 or 19). There bassist is named Jake Holtz, he does some easy stuff but it goes with the music. Check them out if you havn't heard of them, they have some catchy songs.

Heh. I saw the thread title and thought it was going to be about Leland Sklar (and I was psyched) and that you just misspelled Leland. Oh well. I'll have to check out Leeland...

They are a great band. I have seen them twice now and they were amazing both times. The lyrics seem really mature for such young guys.

I've only heard 1 or 2 songs by them but what I heard was really good. Aren't they a Christian band? No matter what they are I like what I heard. Sometimes easy bass lines are harder than the hard ones because you have to discipline yourself to play easy stuff. I sometimes like to show off with the flying fingers if you know what I mean.

Me too on all the above. Leland Sklar is the reason I play bass. I fell in love with bass when I heard his extended solo at the end of a Steven Curtis Chapman song called "Free" from the Signs of Life CD. It was simple and melodic... I was totally hooked. Not that I think all bass playing should be that way. His totally fit though.

I checked out their myspace page. I liked what I heard and added one of their songs to my profile. Very well written music and lyrics. I wonder if they write their own stuff.

Yea, Leeland Mooring is the songwriter for the group, the lead singer. He also co-wrote some songs on one of Michael W. Smith's cds.
