Application Exams for Music Studies in a month - What should I play? - HELP!

Sign in to disble this ad
I have the exams for appling to music studies in a month, and I during those exams I need to play two different songs.

I need your help finding bass lines and solos that are impressive on one hand, but not very hard technicaly. I play for about 9 year. I only got into jazz on the last six months, but i'd preffer the songs to be "of a jazzy nature". I can write down basic walking bass lines for songs that have a chart available, but I'm having problems dealing with most solo's on the technic-speed level.

For some examples:
I first thought about playing "Groovin' High" by Dizzy Gillespie, but I couldn't handle any solo I heard on recordings.

I also tried "12+12" by Ron Carter from the Pastels album, but I couldn't transcribe anything after 1:30 by ear.

I'd really appreciate your help!
Thanks.
