I agree ... the Uli Roth albums are my favorites. And "Taken By Force" is an excellent choice. I get chills even today whenever I hear the intro to "Sails of Charon".

Props to bassist Francis Buchholz, who is way too underrated IMO: tasty chops, and killer P-bass tone.

Sails of Charon is one of my favorites!
How about "sun in my hand" Killer solo on that, as well as the bass line.
Apart from that The Lonesome Crow cd is very unlike what became of them.

virgin killer
fly to the rainbow
in trance

and i just picked up an import compilation called hot and slow.
its all uli stuff generally the most popular stuff from all the previously mentioned albums.

i was always impressed by how he could double and triple complex guitar parts in the studio. he did it flawlessly. the song 'in trance' is a splendid exmple of this.

evening wind, sun in my hand, polar nights and drifting sun are some of my favorite songs even though the solos arent as smoking as on virgin killer, dark lady or ive got to be free.

Virgin Killer for sure, and I admit I like Blackout as well.

blackout flat out kicks ass. it was the last good one IMHO. i listened to the title track the other day and i forgot just how heavy that song is. the schenkers are no joke. but uli was just something else completely. heavy hendrix influence and was doing stuff eddievan halen wouldnt be doing until a few years later. definately king of the divebomb. look how long his whammy bar is on the 'in trance' cover.

Virgin Killer
Taken By Force
Tokyo Tapes
Didn't buchholz played Spector Basses

The Oldies are the better ones, though a friend of mine told me that their last album is awesome. Has anyone checked it out?

Maybe he switched in sometime in the 80's, but for the early albums he was a P-bass guy.

Well, I guess because I was a teenager and it was the record that got me into the Scorps, World Wide Live. You guys are right about some of the older stuff for sure. Blackout rocks hard (we just jammed that out of the blue at our last practice and I think it is getting added to the set for sure).
