Hey all, I played the bass on Aurin's "The Pre-Inspired Symphony" album at Redemption Studios last month. We have 3 songs up on our Reverbnation page. I feel very happy with the way it sounds.
The three songs on the page, I used my Ibanez SR506 6-string bass into a Hartke 5500/8x10 aluminum cone cab. One song on the album was tracked with an Essex 4 string Jazz Bass.
I also used an Ashdown Hyperdrive for most of the overdrive parts on the album. Used an MXR Phase 90 on parts of "Control" and "Holding On". Used a Bad Monkey, MXR Bass Octave Deluxe, and Whammy IV on "Control". Other songs had a Boss Chorus, Dunlop Bass Crybaby, Bass Big Muff, MXR BEF, and MXR Carbon Copy Delay used sporadically.
Mics were a Blue Mouse condenser for the lows and highs of the wet signal and an SM57 for the mids of the wet signal. DI was a Countryman Type 85 for the dry signal.
I like the growl I was getting out of the Ibanez, sort of sounded halfway between a Warwick and a Music Man, and think the recording turned out very well.
Listens and comments would be much appreciated.
