Saw AWB in concert with TOP at the Basie Theatre in Red Bank NJ about 2 years ago or so .....
Hate to say it, because I love TOP, but the Average White Band blew them away that night. AWB was much looser, way heavier groove and the guys were just there to play .... whereas TOP put on a very structured show that had minimal emotion to it (on that night ... I've seen them many times when they were unbelievably great)
Both great bands ....
