i love average white band. their records were the first funk records i played along with.
i really love alan (and hamish's) bass playing. solid groove, occaisional tasty lick, but simple.

There's a good article on Gorrie in Bass Guitar magazine where he talks about songs like Pick Up The Pieces having busier basslines until Jerry Wexler trimmed them down.
