Bach: Toccata in D-minor

Hello all and happy holidays! Just thought I'd introduce myself and share some of what I do.

Here is a version of what's well known as the "Phantom of the Opera" theme. An organist friend of mine heard me goofing and encouraged me to explore, and it turned into a whole arrangement.

The camera didn't capture the THICK low end texture that was present in the hall and made the treble sound like a tin can, but I hope you enjoy anyway (actually, the problem in this hall was having *enough* treble... bassists hate playing in PNC).

I'm currently transcribing the whole piece from some organ sheet music. I'm done the Toccata, went without a hitch pretty much.

I didnt realize what a Fugue was though.... this is going to be tricky.

great stuff

very well done, nice tone and phrasing

I have alway loved that piece, currently listening to the violin partitas by Bach, crazy to think of him improvising 4 part fugues on the organ...

thanks for posting -G
