Edgar Meyer is the musical Midas Man. He's incredible. Everything he plays oozes feeling. Any of his recordings are worth getting!

Actually, the main crticism of his playing on these recordings is that it doesn't ooze feeling. He plays the suites very conservatively and with little to no vibrato. Still, that in itself has a certain kind of aesthetic that many people (myself included) can enjoy. This isn't to say of course that his other stuff isn't impassioned.

Graet

I bought it just by hearing other people talk about it and they were all right!

it's hands down the best bass version of the bach cello suits. i mean, it's not just a bass player trying to play the bach cello suits, it's actually good enough to compete with cello players playing the cello suits.

about the whole lack of vibrato thing, it is retarded that everyone was attacking him for not using vibrato. string players these days use vibrato way too much. bach didn't intend for the suits to be played with heavy vibrato throughout...

YOU MUST have this CD...it is essential in your collection...Meyer is just sublime...and the suites are exceptionally executed.

I have to go on this path. Guy does nothing for me. Its a good disk but for me this is the disk to have. Not DB but they are not the Bach DB Suites
