backing tracks for bass practice

I know there's quite a few online for guitar, but I haven't managed to find any for the bass. I've been harping at my guitarist friend to record some tracks with some of the stuff we do without the bass track so that I can use it for practice purposes. Do any of you know of any online, or have suggestions of an easy way to create them?

What I'm talking about is a track w/ guitar, drums, and vocals (if applicable).

thanks for the input!

Lightbulb Partial Solution

I use a program called ACID DJ. It isn't made anymore, but you can find it on on eBay and so on. It is designed for dance, house, and electronica type music. However, I have found it useful over the years as a sketch pad for writing drum, bass and guitar lines. It is really easy to learn and use. Also, you can get thousands of loops for free from various sources online and on the DVD that comes with a few magazines like Computer Music.

It isn't the best program for sure. But I have recorded a jam session with the guys (in AudiaCity-free online from sourceforge.net) and reconstructed the basic time and drums in Acid. It allows me to jam around it at home to flesh an idea out. Of course there are no real drum fills- and the drum lines have no feeling to them. But thats ok. Then I make a rough sketch recording and send it back to the band. It keeps the creative process going during the week until next rehearsal. The sound quality is very basic, but I don't need much more.

Lastly, having those files sit on your computer for a few months is a good thing. I have gone back over the old stuff and it has inspired new ideas later. I use the files like a notebook.

There are alot programs online for free you should check out, don't pay money for anything until you see if there is a freeware solution.

Hope this helps.
