Yep. My band recorded it's first demo a few weeks ago.

I used my Carvin b4, plugged in direct. Thoughts on my tone? Have an opinion on the song?

Comments/tips appreciated.

Thanks!

The bass seems low in the mix but given the song it fits. Very easy to listen to, unlike some harder edge stuff that makes me wrinkle my nose. Enjoyed it. Thanks

Sounds good, the bass tone is good, although I agree it could be brought out in the mix more. It's prominent during the verse/triplet part, but fades into the mix during the rest of the song. Probably an EQ issue.

Minor criticism for the song, in the verse/triplet section, either the bass part or the drum part should probably be changed. The drummer is playing a pretty sparse, laid back part, and it sounds like you're playing in doubletime with the triplets. I think either the drummer should adapt his part to mesh better with what you're playing, or you should adapt your part to mesh better with what he's playing. Either approach could work, neither of the parts is bad they just don't really match up together. It sounds like the rest of the band is kind of going for a bit of a mellow/spacey feel, so I would lean towards playing a more lean bass line with some space in it.

I hope that is helpful lol

Thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it. I agree with the bass being too low in the mix, which is kind of a bummer. I have the song files on a DVD, but I don't have pro tools.

Are the sound files you have separate tracks or a stereo mix down? You could try getting a free audio editor like Audacity and using that to boost up the bass, although I think it's not just a gain issue, the EQ probably needs to be tweaked.

I am pretty sure they are seperate tracks, but I'll check and get back to you.

EDIT: Ok, folder with the audio files has about 30 different sound files in it, but no stereo mixdown. I have some recording programs. I don't know how I would go about arranging all of it though.
