Bobby Vega struts his stuff, and Steve Kimock is the ultimate tone hound. You can find almost all of their live shows on: www.archive.org in the Live Archives section. Mid-'99 was especially outstanding.

These are some of his earlier recordings. Good jazz tunes with a tight, distinctive rhythm section.

Also, check out Pandora. It's a free internet radio site that learns what you like when you give songs thumbs up or down. It then plays more music with the features that you like. Very cool. http://www.pandora.com

Also, just saw Ben Harper from a 2007 concert - what a smokin' band!
Finally, I have to offer my default answer on any thread like this. Bruce Hornsby. My great friend/mentor/teacher/brother, J.V. Collier has played with Bruce for over 15 years now. JV + Sonny Emory = GROOVE. |

The same five have been playing together since 1979. The drummer plays in the back of the pocket, and the bass player and he are seriously locked in. I just recently discovered them, but most people who are familiar with jam bands and good music know about them. They have a DVD that I love. Sorry for the long answer, but they have some remarkable music out there.
I saw Little Feat mentioned above. I think Meters (also mentioned above) were a phenomental groove band, too. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
