I would throw in Gorod and Spawn of Possession in that category.

Implosion - That is a serious drummer! He gave Longstreth a run for his money on that one. Very solid. Their best song.

I'm amazed by his skill every time we play Besides Portal we play a few more Origin songs at rehearsals, it's a lot of fun.

I've never really been a fan of Cryptopsy, everything they do tends to sound exactly the same.

The Faceless is pretty cool! Some of their songs have alot of core influences [which I don't like] but on the whole they're a good band. Any others?

Man, you need Pavor! Their bass player shreds all over the guitarist. Definetly my favorite Tech Death band.

I wouldn't recommend Gojira. Sick band! but not compareable.

Beneath the Massacre - brootal **** from Montreal.
The Faceless - tech death fro msomewhere in the states.
Into Eternity - progressive tech death from Vancouver
Nile - 'nuff said. These guys are fast and will kill any '09 GT-r in 0-100 race.
Psycroptic - Straight from Australia!
Protest the Hero - quite decent band. full of young adults who know how to use their instruments. Not exactly death death metal, but something fresh. I like them they've got some very good songs. And the bass lines aren't boring.
Quo Vadis - Another band from Montreal, including Steve DiGIorgio. Crazy band, nice bass lines.

Now for some different stff you may like:

The black Dahlia murder - a bit deathcore and death metal. They've been doing deatchore for a while, and it's probably one the better core bands out there. Listen to Nocturnal. Its easy to listen, and no insanely GAY breakdowns. These guys are brootal.

not bad, but kinda like Brain Drill, they don't quite sound like they're playing in time with each other perfectly.
