Bands with Surprisingly Bass Present Mixes

Sign in to disble this ad
Was just listening to "Since You Been Gone" by the Outfield and thought, wow - the bass is really present in this song. So I listened to the rest of their catalog and they have a very nice mix for pretty much every record. Surprising! Don't get me wrong, I know that the lead singer is the bassist and they are a trio, but it is still a little unexpected to hear such loud, clear bass on a pop recording.

Do you have any other examples of bands with surprisingly bass present mixes?

That's an odd reference. I think that Outfield song has the bass pretty much where most recordings used to be before excessive compression.

Albums with most bass -- Close To The Edge, Abby Road, Rio, Piece of Mind, Led ZepII.

I think a lot of modern popsongs have their bass more upfront!

present bass sounds really good with the sound of lead guitar ego's being crushed
examples:
Sia - Clap Your Hands (from We Are Born) - YouTube
ready to start- arcade fire

I don;t think the Sia song is bass guitar. And funny, that arcde fire song sound like it could have been recorded in 1969. But for a more present bass, check out this recording from that time. Care Of Cell 44 - The Zombies - YouTube

What makes you think that "clap your hands" has no bass?
Sounds like a pretty P-bass'ish sound to me
