Bass eq opinions

Here is a recording from one of my bands. Very simple ballad, the singers are awesome. I played a 4 string Stingray, through a GK MB500, GK Neo 112 and a mc preamp/DI.
I think the bass' overall level is......ok, but the low end of the bass in the mix too me is waaaay too much, listening on a decent home or car stereo system. The engineer/producer who mixed the song said it fits in the mix that way. Not everyone agrees with that but should I protest, or just let it go?

I took a listen. It's not really my genre, but I guess that's the cool thing about mixing - the 'objectivity.' I'm no pro sound engineer though.
Overall, sounds pretty good through my speakers.
I think the bass is certainly big in that mix. The song itself seems kinda bass-led, so it makes sense to have the mix bass led. So I don't think the bass is too loud, however I do think the drums and guitar need to come up, particularly the bass drum. I found myself wanting more bass drum on the first listen. Also, the vocals could come down a touch and still be very forward.

I my impression is that the bass is where it should be, and everything else should be closer to that. Essentially, I think the right things are being done a little too heavily.

I'm interested in what advice more experienced ears than mine have to offer though.

I think the bass cuts through just fine, I wouldn't brighten it up much or it wouldn't sit well in the mix. That song isn't really calling for that a biting Stingray tone.
