Bass Guitar Gives Low Signal

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Squier P-Bass. See link below

http://www.dvguitars.com/invt/2307/

I also have a Bass Pod. When I record into Logic (DI'd via the Bass Pod), I never get a good recording level. The audio is always very low. I can crank it up and still the same problem occurs.

I'm not to clued up about guitars. I'm thinking the reason for the problem above is because the Squier only has a Split Single-Coil Pickup.

Any suggestions guys?

If I need to buy a new guitar I'll get one but I need to get to the bottom of this issue.

Thanks

I don't know much about the bass pod, does it have meters of some sort? You need to make sure you're getting a good signal going into the pod, and coming out of it. If you plug into the pod and use headphones does it sound ok?

When I record with my audio interface, I often run into low volume levels. I compensate by doing post-production work.

Usually when I record, I plug my bass into a sansamp DI box. If you're recording direct, a preamp of some sort is usually a good idea.
