Bass lines that almost everybody plays wrong...

Sign in to disble this ad
I'll go first...

The unequivocal #1 all-time misplayed bass line is "I Feel Good" (it's a half step, not a whole step)

#2 "Sweet Emotion" (it's tricky)
#3 "Superstition" (simple, but somehow this always gets destroyed)

What else?

Believe it or not... Mustang Sally (why does every band think it turns around to the 5 chord after verses?)

Brown Eyed Girl.

Under Pressure. They're really playing Ice Ice Baby, there's a little ding ding ding didi that makes it different.

In all fairness, if almost everyone who plays this plays it wrong, that's probably 3 people. Not a large enough data set I suspect.

Smoke on the Water -- it doesn't follow Blackmore's chords
Satisfaction -- it's not the same as the guitar intro
Ain't Too Proud to Beg -- it's not the same pattern all the way through the chorus

Talking

The common thing- the most ironic thing- about all these songs is that they're pretty much all "standards" that have bee played and certainly heard to death. You'd think these would be the songs that people play correctly...

+1 for this!

Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall" suite - I don't hear it often but when I do hear it, it's always butchered.

Just about anything by Tool, Pantera, and 80% of the crap on youtube.
