Bass player turned guitarist writes....

Hello fellow bass players.
Not sure if this is a confessional or a bit of promo... maybe both.

After playing bass in bands for 18 years. I decided this time last year to try my hand at six strings.
To be honest became frustrated at the bands I was playing in, never one just to criticise I rolled my sleaves up and got involved.
I'm playing guitar and bass my wife sings and drums.
On these tracks I'm playing a Fender JB62, and man what a bass it is too. Full of music. My amp is a SVT micro and an amusing combination of the associated 2x10 and the 1x15' cab from an old Randell amp.

If you like what you hear then please like us on Facebook, we have more music to come. Thanks for listening.

Hey man... this is pretty damned good.

Makes me think I should start a project w. my girlfriend... she's a pretty good singer, trained in musical theater...

But yeah, this is great... I really hope you will have/have had kids - guaranteed those'll be some talented children...

Keep it up!

Oh, also i personally would change the band name... maybe just "Hill" or "Hills"... for some reason, "Mr. and Mrs." in the name makes me think it's going to be some kind of cheesy novelty act... just my opinion...

A fair point. We've had lots names for our duo but that's the one that seemed to resonate with people.

And yes make music with your woman, it's the best. :-)

I really enjoyed your music! Even though it's been a while I write and record my own music too, so I can fully appreciate the "do it yourself" effort that's involved. Very tasteful playing and great singing.

It was all good, but I really liked "Two Birds" the best. I thought that one had the best and most memorable hook.

All the best to you and your wife!

I'm digging it! So many couple bands sound gimmicky, but this is really good. Makes me think I need to start a band with my girlfriend who plays drums haha

Nice! I like it. Your guitar playing is nicely sparse and in the groove. Bass players usually make better guitarists than guitarist make bass players

It sounds good. Your wife has a bit of a Chrissie Hyde vibe to her voice.

Thanks. I had to really dig deep on that one. Coming up the guitars parts was a challenge. The only keyboards are the middle 8 and the Mellotron on the 2nd verse.

Thanks

Guitar players (unless your Keith Richards) cannot play bass

Wow this is some good stuff guys. It sounds totally natural and not contrived at all. You got to extend this to an LP and get it out there IMO.

I love the songsmithing.. Love the production and arrangements and soundscape, vocals... I would Buy that EP without hesitation....... I like what the other person said about maybe calling it the Hills instead of Mr Mrs... But that is just me.. But LOVE the Songs and production.. And your wife plays drums like Ringo in the last song. and I LOVE that Strawberry Fields Keyboard feely part... ......
