Bass tone on new recordings

Sign in to disble this ad
My band finished recording recently and we just got the masters back. I would like to know what people thought of the bass tone, especially on the track called "Illegitimate". I can list gear if anyone is interested

THANKS!

You've got a good crunchy sound to it. From the style of music that is being played I am extremely happy that the bass can be heard throughout the ENTIRE track. The other songs I cannot hear as much bass, but I can definitely still hear the bass. Props to the person who mixed it, because you can hear all the instruments, not just drums, vocals, and guitar.....again, very happy the bass can be heard. Also, this may be stupid to say, but I believe that you are using some sort of distortion and/or fuzz pedal effect.

Yea I agree my engineer did a great job mixing the tracks. I also agree that "Illegitimate" is the song where the bass sticks out the most. I wouldn't say its a stupid comment on your guess of the pedal because I would've guessed too, but I didn't use any pedals for this. I did however crank both amps I used till they were pretty hot; I used a 70's ampeg v4 and a MK3 Orange ad200 through an emperor 6x10 and 2x15. Although no pedals were used those amps get really gritty. Thanks for listening
