Bass tone on Off the wall

Sign in to disble this ad
A simple question, did Louis Johnson use flats on his stingray when he recorded off the wall ? The tone is really warm, smooth and thumpy but at the same time it has the distinctive stingray bite. Does anybody have information on the strings he used ?

Thanks

Having just listened to "Get on the floor" it certainly sounds like flats. Theres lots of bite but no zing at all.

Excellent playing too, probably my favourite MJ song!

I sent him a message asking the same question. So far, he's ignored me. Maybe if enough people ask him, he'll respond.
