| Bass tone on Vertical Horizon - Live Stages

Does anyone know (or can you identify) what created the tone of Vertical Horizon's Live Stages? Bass player is Ryan Fisher.
It doesn't have rumbling lows. I think it's relying on mids, yet it doesn't sound watery (problem I always run into). It has a good bite and clarity right down to the B. Since it's live, fast and not muddy, I think it's probably a board feed. It sits great in the mix.
I'm kinda out of my genre, and I'd just love to know what pickups/bass/pre he was using.
