Bass used on "Silly Love Songs"?

Was that a Ric? Love the way the line bounces around and every note is so defined. Also - is he using a mute perhaps?

I admit I'm a guitarist, not a bassist. So (in guitar-player-dummy-terms) how would I get this sound??

Even as a non-bassist I can tell Paul was (is) a freak genius.

I searched earlier and did not see this, but looks like this topic has already been visited! Guess I'm not alone in digging this bass line. If anyone has anything additional to add I would welcome it. Otherwise I will use this thread for my info:
