Bass And Vocals

That's JUST vocals and bass!

I believe the bass is a great solo accompanyment instument, though rarely used as such. What limitations is has in register is made up in its timbre and range. Though it is a challange, however, finding that "sweet spot" voicing. (Especially on a 4 string).

Just thought I'd share an example. YouTube - ‪I wish you love‬‏

Closest thing I can think of is my new favorite-band-ever, Morphine: rhythm section, 2-string bass set an octave apart and played with a slide, baritone sax and sexy deep vocals.

Checked it out. It's not exactly "accompianment" in the way to which I was referring -- more like stating basic chords , but pretty cool nonetheless.

The bassist is Mike Visceglia, who I know and admire from his work with Suzanne Vega. Don't know anything about the singer apart from her name, Fiona McBain, but I like her voice.

I bought their CD at the last Vega concert in Sydney where Visceglia was playing bass.

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet. This video caused a stir when it was originally posted.
